2015 Fall Field Trip - Monday, October 5, 2015
OCTOBER 24th, from 10am-2pm: IMI has generously agreed to host a field trip to their Pipe Creek Jr quarry near Swayzee, Indiana. IMI geologist Jon Havens will provide a guided tour of the quarry, which features a Silurian limestone reef. Excellent exposures of Silurian section can be seen in the quarry walls, along with occasional tar seeps. There will also be an opportunity to collect samples, including fossil corals, brachiopods and more.

2015 PGI Annual Meeting with the Indiana Geologists

The PGI will be having the 2015 Annual Meeting with the Indiana Geologist on Wednesday, November 18, 2015.  The meeting will be held at the Claddagh Irish Pub located at 3835 East 96th Street in Indianapolis, IN.  More details will be forthcoming.

2014 Field Trip Photos


Photos from the PGI Annual Field Trip, Middle Mississippian Carbonate Platform Evolution in South-Central Indiana, have been added to the website.  Thanks again to the Todd Thompson and Brian Keith of the Indiana Geological Survey for putting together a great trip.




PGI Technical Writing Symposium


This year's annual PGI educational seminar was a success.  Dr. Marjorie Rush Hovde conducted a technical writing symposium, Communicating Effectively, to a packed house at the Indiana Government Center.  PGI would like to thank Dr. Rush Hovde for presenting and IDEM for hosting the event.  Below is a link to the presentation.
